I remember seeing this statue when I visited Harvard a few years ago. I had been looking at colleges in the Boston area and thought it may be nice to visit the Harvard campus (even know I did not apply). I did however take some nice photographs next to this statue.

You're all idiots - you don't issue a warning to the enemy "hey, we're going to bomb you tomorrow"; you don't feel sorry for the enemy that you bombed and you don't compare the actions of Truman to any would be actions of a dictator. If you could go back in time, you might just realize that the Japs would not surrender, they simply refused even though our forces in the south pacific had kicked butt (and at the cost of thousands of US GI's lives to boot). The Japs gave us (that's Truman and the USA) no other choice but to bomb them and bring them to their knees. It was only after the 2nd bomb that they decided to surrender and end the war. Remember, the Japs struck 1st, they drew 1st blood on Sun. a.m. Dec. 7th, 1941, again killing thousands and taking out an entire naval fleet and air support. It was their decision not to surrender that left our President Truman no other option - he had to take such drastic and fatal action against them. But hey, not all was lost - our government went over there and rebuilt their cities, rendered medical care and treatment, invested millions to their well being and now, they sell more cars in the US than anywhere else in the world, not to mention they are the leaders when it comes to telecom and/or anything else electronic.

That was a fairly anemic beating. Surely you can do better! : )

Already conceded: that all this data says is that the imbalance of the personal wealth distribution at the uppermost extreme has been decreasing over the long term. It does not say anything about the imbalance of the rest of the personal wealth distribution (which probably should be of more interest/concern to us), nor about the imbalance of the personal living standards and personal liberties distributions (which definitely should be of more interest/concern to us, but which are obviously causally related to the wealth distribution).

Still adamant: that the scoffing and indignation at the extremely wealthy is out of proportion to the effect (economic, as opposed to emotional) on the others, of the withholding of that wealth. It is also wasteful of the energies of the scoffer, for which there are surely better uses. Thus it is "wrong" from a utilitarian perspective.

There are some similarities to the situation in Iceland these days, where many people seem to feel (a) that the only thing (as opposed to one very understandable thing) to do these days is to shake your fist, your other extremities, or blunt instruments at the people believed to be more or less responsible for the setting up, the triggering, and the botched firefighting of our current thermonuclear explosion, and (b) that the crime of neglecting this negativity and remaining upbeat and focused on producing new opportunities, new jobs and (heaven forbid!) new export revenues, is morally treasonable to the Icelandic nation and — worse! — is part of a short-trousered conspiracy to defend the bungling Seven-Headed Beast in the central bank.

I just can´t stop beating this horse. Sorry. But today OECD published a report on wealth distribution and I came to think of this blog post. And no, that report does not specifically cover the people with (great) wealth.

Getting it from my own code. Callstack is very mystical:

If everyone understood money everyone could be wealthy. They would be more useful to society and would create for themselves more wealth. There is no reason this cannot be the case.

When I was first introduced to astrology, I laughed, a lot - just because you are born on a certain day, you are different from someone born the day before. I STOPPED LAUGHING WHEN I REALIZED THAT IT WORKED. I have a bad chart, and my life was in chaos. When I started living by my natal chart, my life turned around. I must always be careful. I have a T-square. Keep astrology out there for all to know. I have done charts for non-believers and made them believers. Astrology is no way takes away from God and prayer.

So... I'm 16... I don't believe in god, the toothfairy, or Santa Clause, and I don't believe in pushing people to believe something. Telling a child that you believe in Santa, or the tooth fairy is fine until they're old enough to make their own decision because you don't want to ruin their dreams. Belief in god is an entirely different matter.

If a child is old enough to ask wheather or not you believe in a something means that they're expecting an answer. Sure, they may think you're silly for not believeing, but for a question like that, they're probably just going to accept it, and move on. Kids are like that. No one should have religious view pushed upon them. You can offer a person an idea on how to look at the world and how it was created, but you can't tell them. Choses maked the world an easier place to live in. At least to me. Quoting the bible, and telling me I'm going to hell because I don't believe in Him, or because I don't believe in heaven or hell is just going to make me resent your religion even more....
